The diagnosis of ADD/ADHD is not determined by a blood test, xray, CT scan or MRI scan. Instead, the actual diagnostic tool is a series of questions, which make up a Behavior Rating Scale. This Scale has then been tested among hundreds of patients to determine:
- It's accuracy
- If it differentiates ADD/ADHD from other conditions
Other scales are used by your physician, or other professional, to determine if any associated conditions are present. Some of those other conditions include:
- Learning Disability--Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, Arithmetic Problem, or other Learning Difference
- Depression
- Bipolar
- Anxiety
- OCD
- Panic Disorder
- Substance Abuse
The professional evaluates all of the scales, examines the patient, and then makes the diagnosis based on all of these criteria.
The scales below are for ADD/ADHD and Adult ADD. Other scales are used for the other conditions listed above.
Behavior Rating Scale: These are the scales used by professionals to aid in the diagnosis of ADD/ADHD. You may rate yourself on the scales. There are, however, other factors to consider. Take the completed form to your doctor or other professional to aid in your (or your child's diagnosis)............Behavior Rating Scale
Adult Behavior Rating Scale: This scale was designed for adults. It's basically very similar to the above Behavior Rating Scales. The wording of the questions are changed to reflect adult activities and conditions................ADULT Behavior Rating Scale
