Many things have been looked at as possible cause of ADD/ADHD. It was originally thought back in the 1960's and 1970's, that there was some form of minimal brain injury. Many people felt like there was a problem with oxygen supply to the brain at or around birth. Other people have tried to implicate head injury, chemicals in diet, sugar, whether you walked too soon(skipped crawling), or large tonsils.
Many studies are ongoing regarding the cause (etiology) of ADHD.
